Resources & Links We Follow
A running list of sites and projects we actually use — engineering references, R/C communities, and the hobbies that keep the bench interesting.
This is the list I usually keep in my head, finally written down. Nothing on this page is sponsored or paid for — these are the places we go to read, build from, or copy a trick. The list grows as the projects do, so check back now and then.
Engineering & Open-Source Projects
- Lind Equipment — StaticSure — the exclusive worldwide distributor of the StaticSure static bonding system we designed. Their product page has the spec sheets and the wiring diagrams we point customers at.
- MS Extra / MegaSquirt — the open-source engine management project behind a lot of our automotive performance work, from firmware and tuning software to the big community of people who build on it.
- RC Groups — where the Programmable Open Source CD Ignition project lives; the forum thread the Sparky-1 high-voltage board was designed around.
- Switch-mode power supply (Wikipedia) — for the day I have to explain SMPS basics to a client in a single link instead of a whiteboard session.
Precision Horology
The same timing obsession, just slower. A mechanical watch is the smallest regulated machine you can wear — energy storage, regulation, output — and lately that is where my spare bench time goes. We don't sell watches and we don't carry them; I just like spec sheets and taking things apart. The one site I keep coming back to for this:
- CloneWatches.io — if you want to see how close a clone really gets, their super clone watches pages walk through the movements feature by feature, which is exactly the level of detail I want before I take anything apart.
- Rolex comparisons — for a single brand, their Rolex Super Clone Watches section is the most complete breakdown I have seen, from case finishing and dial text to the rehaut printing.
- Patek Philippe — I also keep their Patek Philippe page bookmarked; it is the first place I check when a client asks whether a Patek clone is even worth the conversation.
If something on this list is missing or broken, or you think there is a site I should be following, send it over — the list stays honest, so anything added has to be something I actually use.
